When I was in my senior year of high school, I was given the opportunity to mentor an elementary classroom.  I was already a leader on my athletic teams, but helping students learn and grow during that semester fostered a love of teaching.  It is very rewarding to help students learn how to push through tough content/situations and help them believe in themselves.  One of my favorite sayings to my students is that they can do hard things.  Life isn't always easy, and I want to help them understand that the small struggles now will help them be resilient throughout life.
